Freshman tennis standout
Taylor LeFridge picked up the biggest win of her young career as she took down University of Arkansas standout Yang Pang during a non-conference match at Prairie View A&M on March 14.
LeFridge claimed a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 win over Pang, who was nationally ranked to begin the season.
"It was a good win for Taylor as she maintained her composure," said head coach John Cochran. "The win boosted her confidence going into our next two matches."
Despite LeFridge's win, Arkansas claimed the match 4-1 but Cochran said he needs a total team effort from top to bottom.
"Our top three, (Brittany) Harrell, (Taylor) LeFridge and (Christine) Gwodog have been pretty consistent but I need my four, five or six to step up so we can get the doubles point. If we want to win it all, that's the formula we'll need to follow."
The Lady Panthers will travel to Beaumont, Texas this Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup at Lamar.
