Moody, Thompson Qualify For NCAA Division I Track and Field West Preliminary Round

PRELIMINARY ROUND TRACK INFORMATION

SCHEDULE

The Prairie View A&M women's track team qualified two student-athletes runners for the upcoming 2012 NCAA Division I Track and Field West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas on next week.  Redshirt sophomore Terracia Moody will compete in the 400-meter dash while sophomore Sylvonna Thompson earned a spot in the 400-meter hurdles.

A native of Longview, Texas, Moody will make her second career appearance at the preliminary round as she participated in the 2010 round also in Austin.  Moody qualified with a career-best time of 53.91 in the 400 which was achieved at the 2012 SWAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship in New Orleans on May 4.

Thompson makes her first-ever appearance at the preliminary round in the 400-meter hurdles.  The Houston native clocked a collegiate-best time of 1:00.24 also at the 2012 SWAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship in New Orleans on May 4.

This marks the third postseason appearance for Moody and the second for Thompson.  Both participated at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships as freshmen.

The festivities begin on Thursday, May 24 with the first round of the women's 400-meter hurdles set to begin at 5 p.m. The 400-meter dash first round starts at 7:45 p.m. at Mike Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus.  The quarterfinal round will resume on Friday, May 25 beginning at 6 p.m.
