The Prairie View A&M football team donned full pads for the first time on Saturday afternoon as they conducted a brief scrimmage under the watchful eye of several Southwestern Athletic Conference football officials.

“Being that it's our first day in pads I think we're headed in the right direction,” said head coach Heishma Northern. “Some of our young guys have come in and showed they definitely belong (here) and our veteran players have to be consistent in terms of making sure they catch balls on third down and making good reads in our two and four-minute offenses. Overall, I'm pleased with the way things are going and there are some big plays being made on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, that'll carry over to the game.”
